2024 Camp Policies

Camp Fee

Your camp fee is payable when you enroll in Deoxidized. You are not enrolled until your camp fees have been remitted. Camp Fees do not include Burning Man tickets or Vehicle Pass. You are responsible for securing those. The WhatsApp  Deox Campers Community is a good place to inquire if anyone has or knows of tickets for sale.

Cancellation Policy

Sometimes life takes an unexpected turn.  Your DEOX Camp fee is non-refundable after July 31st.   Before July 31st, there will be a $100 processing fee for cancellation to cover our costs.  Should you cancel after July 31st,  you may find a replacement pending approval of Deoxidized. Your replacement must assume all your DEOX duties and responsibilities.

Duties and Responsibilities

The amazing Deoxidized amenities, programs and provisions require a fully participatory effort by ALL DEOX members. Every member must be part of the infrastructure setup or the strike team.  If you are new to the camp – you will likely be on the strike team.   This means you should not plan to leave Burning Man before the closing Sunday evening – after all the assets are stored for the transport off the playa.

In addition to participating in either setup or strike  – you will be required to sign up for 4 duties. One Kitchen duty – either cooking or cleaning  – is required by each member along with 3 other duties.

It is imperative that you be responsible and know when your duties are,  and show up for your duties ready to perform them in a safe and competent manner.

We view failure to show up for duties as disrespectful to your fellow camper, who count on you. Failure to show up for assigned duties may result in not being asked to return to Deoxidized.

Housing:

You are responsible for securing your housing.   DEOX has several fully furnished shift pods for rent. Contact the housing manager to make rental arrangements. If you do rent DEOX housing, you are responsible for set up, break down and any damage to the equipment.

DEOX determines the placement of your housing.   You may not randomly park your rv/trailer or set up your camping structures or you will be asked to move.    Upon arrival, you will be directed to where you can set up.       Our electrical grid is meant to accommodate a mix of housing, so, therefore, be sure to consult the welcome wagon people when you arrive to avoid being asked to move after you are set up.

Consent:

DEOX strives to provide a safe, welcoming environment for everyone.  You are expected to behave with decency and decorum everywhere in the DEOX camp  (and throughout Burning Man). Respecting your fellow members’ boundaries is very important. Inappropriate touching or advances will not be tolerated.  Persistent violators will be asked to leave the camp.

Packaging/Trash/MOOP:

You are responsible for your own trash and any MOOP you find anywhere in our camp and on the playa.    Burning Man’s Leave No Trace policy is strictly enforced.    Remove all packaging before coming to Burning Man; otherwise, you will be required to keep that trash in your campsite and cart it back out.   The DEOX dumpster is not for your personal use.   Pick up MOOP wherever you find it – even if it’s not yours.   Carry a MOOP bag to store the MOOP until you return to camp.

 Recycle:

One of our big challenges is recycling.  Every member needs to be conscious of what DEOX is recycling and not mix trash with the recycling.   You contaminate recyclable items when you mix them with  non-recyclable items.

BE AWARE OF THE SEPARATE BIN  USED FOR DISPOSAL, AND DON’T CONTAMINATE THE RECYLABLES PLEASE!

The Ten Principles

Every member must know and live by the Burning Man ten principles on the playa. These principles are the cornerstone of the Burning Man Magic.
